Michigan’s State Continuing Education Clock Hour (SCECH) Catalog provides education personnel approved professional learning opportunities that may be used to renew or progress an educator certificate/license. Education personnel must have 150 clock hours of Education-Related Professional Learning every five-year renewal cycle. SCECHs are one option for renewal.
School Counselors must earn 25 hours in career exploration, of which 5 hours must be in military options, as well as 25 hours in college preparation and selection, every 5 years as part of the total 150 hours of required professional learning.
To earn SCECHs for participating in these programs, you MUST register with the Sponsor of the program before beginning the program. The Sponsor of the program is listed in the description of each opportunity.
Approved school counselor professional learning opportunities that meet the requirements of MCL 380.1233 for renewing a school counselor credential are designated by one of the following indicators:
“SCHOOL COUNSELOR CAREER EXPLORATION”
“SCHOOL COUNSELOR COLLEGE PREPARATION AND SELECTION”
“SCHOOL COUNSELOR MILITARY OPTIONS”
