American Sign Language 101
This is an introduction to American Sign Language. This online program will use syntax, common conversational phrases, and over 200 signs allowing a person to carry on a basic conversation in sign language. The use of American Sign Language by regular education teachers will facilitate the education of deaf students in public schools by opening the doors to a greater circle of people with whom they can communicate. There are few opportunities to learn sign language in most communities and especially rural communities. Furthermore, the proposed course uses video images to show signs, phrases, and dialogues which make the course far more worthwhile for teachers to pursue.
