Michigan Model for Health Early Childhood K-6 Training Copy
MICHIGAN MODEL FOR HEALTH™ HYBRID TRAINING FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS The evidence-based Michigan Model for Health™ has been the state of Michigan’s model curriculum for teaching K-12 health education since 1984. The NEW training format is a hybrid training for elementary teachers which features a face to face and online component. Key features of the online module include: ASCD’s Whole Child model for student success How to access local and state data on student health risk behaviors The effectiveness of the Michigan Model for Health ™ on improving students’ health skills and behaviors The Adapted Health Belief Model and Skills Based Teaching Strong focus on Social and Emotional Health Skills The Michigan Model for Health ™ curriculum structure, materials, and resources Background information for teaching health topics in the Michigan Model for Health™ The face to face training component includes demonstration and practice of skills based teaching, curriculum exploration, and implementation planning. A minimum of five hours is required to complete the hybrid training including three hours for the online component and two hours minimum for the face to face components.
