Biographical Sketch:
His father was an Irish immigrant. At 19, Samuel moved with his parents, John and Elizabeth (DeFrance?, DeFrank?) Gibson, to Constantine Township, Saint Joseph County, 2.5 miles north of the village around 1848. He lived and worked on the family farm until 1903 when he moved into Constantine. He was president of Central State Bank of Geneseo, KS, vice president of Commercial State Bank of Constantine and director of First State Bank of Mendon.
