Biographical Sketch:
Of Dutch ancestry. Son of Ebenezer F. and Rozilla Caroline (Packard) Barringer, he was raised on a farm. At 18, he began teaching in the public schools, simultaneously studying medicine. In the fall of 1863, he moved to Armada, Macomb county, and, commenced the practice of medicine, which he followed with success until the spring of 1878, when, due to ill health, he gave up practice. He served as president of his village 2 terms, director of the union school for many years, township treasurer 2 terms, and treasurer of Macomb county 2 terms. He was one of the charter members of the Armada Agricultural Society, was its secretary for 12 years, and served as its president. He owned a farm in Armada township. He was a member of the Masons and the Grange.
