Son of Charles and Polly (Baker) Crosby. Came to Michigan around 1842. Served in the Michigan 24th Infantry during the Civil War, commissioned as captain. His service was short due to his poor health. Served twice as both president of the village of Plymouth and treasurer of Wayne County.
