Biographical Sketch:
Son of Charles H. and Harriet Maria (Brigham) Westgate. Came to Michigan around 1864. Served as school inspector, county examiner and supervisor. After attending Hillsdale College he went to Massachusetts, staying until 1879. He then moved to Alpena, MI, and was pastor of the Congregational Church there for 4 years. He then became a merchant and insurance agent, living in Cheboygan.

Notable Facts:
Died of Bright's Disease, a kidney disease.
