Biographical Sketch:
Came to Michigan with his parents Samuel and Olive (Seeley) Ball in 1836 and settled on a farm in Webster, Washtenaw Co. where he remained until 1858. Moved to Hamburg in Livingston Co. Spent several years teaching in district schools and the Union School in Otisco, MI, where he was principal. He then moved on to agricultural pursuits including breeding shorthorn cattle and thoroughbred American Merino sheep and Poland China swine. Served as Supervisor of Hamburg Township and County Superintendent of Schools Director and President of the State Agricultural Society. Supervisor and Superintendent of schools of Livingston County. He is a member of the Masons including the Howell Commandery, Knights of the Templar, Odd-Fellows, Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.

Served in both chambers. Find-a-Grave.com notes marker is difficult to read. William's dob is given as 3 Apr 1830. Men of Progress gives birth date as 4/7/1830; death certificate says 4/16/1830 , which is under Wm Ball and gives 2 different dates of death, the 27th and the 28th.
