Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Mary (Outhwaite) Blackwell. Early life on a farm except when attending school. At age 18 moved to the UP where he taught school and read law for two years. Admitted to the bar in 1881. Entered the Law office of Collins and Pierce at Appleton WI in 1883 and soon after formed a partnership. He was one of the first residents of Gladstone and was prominently identified with the growth of that new city. He served as Superintendent of Schools and School examiner, among other positions. He was a 3 year member of the Board of Supervisors for Schoolcraft Co. and was the first prosecuting attorney for Alger Co. He was living in Texas on 1920
