Biographical Sketch:
Of Dutch ancestry. Son og Kasper and Fennig? (Kamps) LaHuis. He served as Superintendent of the Zeeland village schools for 5 years. He then engaged in the mercantile business with his father-in-law under the name of Herder and LaHuis. In 1890, the building and contents were destroyed by fire and he individually re-established and continued the business. He was a stockholder and director of the Zeeland State Bank and Holland Sugar Company, president and director of the Colonial Manufacturing Company and president and treasurer of the A. LaHuis Co.
