Of American and English parentage, he was the son of Dr. Edwin Albert and Christiana (Hanson) Lodge; he was engaged for a time in newspaper work and was city editor for the Detroit Free Press before becoming clerk for the Cunty Board of Auditors in 1897. He was secretary to Mayor George P. Codd in Detroit; alderman; on the city council 6 terms; and mayor of Detroit, MI, 1922-23, 1924, 1927-29. He was later active in real estate and insurance business; member of Masons
Notable Facts:
Detroit's John C. Lodge Expressway is named for him. Uncle by marriage of Charles Augustus Lindbergh (1859-1924). Died of pneumonia.
