Biographical Sketch:
Son of John D. and Catherine (Vannest) Dow. Apprenticed as a shoemaker at 16 for 3 years and was an itinerant at this craft for several years. Lived in New York State for a time before moving to Michigan in 1837. One of the first settlers of Roxand Twp., Eaton Co., MI. One of the first justices of the peace of Chester and its first supervisor. He was also supervisor of Roxand Twp for several years. He moved to Sunfield in 1851 and was supervisor there for many years
