Moved to Janesville, MI briefly to run a school. Poor health caused him to return to NY; taught at Elmira Female College until 1858. Moved to Grand Traverse region 1862; purchased farm land in Elmwood, MI. Prosecuting attorney of Leelanau Co.; supervisor of Elmwood twp, MI.

Notable Facts:
First president of the Grand Traverse Agricultural Society. Sprague gives birth yr as 1809.
