Moved to Adrian, MI from New York state in 1835; admitted to the bar in that same year, and practiced law until 1858. In that year, he removed to Van Buren county, where he resided until his death in 1881.He was commissioned as a lieutenant during the Mexican War but resigned due to ill health before reaching Mexico. Member of the Odd Fellows.
