Biographical Sketch:
Son of Sylvester A. and Julia (Alexander) Farr. Moved to Monroe County, MI in 1851. At 19, in 1861, he enlisted in the Adrian Cadets and was in the first battle of Bull Run. He then enlisted in the 4th US Artillery. He attained the rank of 1st Sergeant. He was admitted to the bar not long after 1870 and moved to Ottawa County to practice law. In 1900 he was collector of customs in Grand Haven. Described in 1881 Manual as always been a stalwart, outspoken and radical Repulbican.
