Biographical Sketch:
His parents Noah and Sarah (Kenyon)Briggs moved to MI in 1836 and settled on a farm in Allegan Co. In 1856 was elected Clerk of Allegan Co. and held that office four years. Served one regular and one special session as state Senator 1861-2. Was admitted to the bar when he resigned and moved to Kalamazoo where he served as Prosecuting Attorney four years. In 1968 was elected Judge of Probate of Kalamazoo Co. and held that position eight years. He had a strong interest in religious and temperance questions and aided in educational matters especially those relating to Kalamazoo College. Many years a Sabbath School Superintendent.
