For a short time connected to the Carey mission. One of the prominent men of MI in pioneer days. He laid out the village of St. Joseph, known as Newberry.
Notable Facts:
Born in New York,(age about 61 years at time of death).
Founder/ first settler of St. Joseph, Michigan, in 1829 and remained a citizen of the town until his death;
member Michigan territorial council 6th District, 1832-35; delegate to Michigan state constitutional convention, 1850; Lieutenant Governor of Michigan, 1852-53.
