Biographical Sketch:
Moved to Western New York with his parents when he was young where he was brought up farming. Came to MI in 1833 first settling on a farm in Palmyra, then in 1836 moving to a farm in Algansee, Branch Co. The first town meeting was held in his log cabin in 1835 and he was elected the first town supervisor which he held consecutively until 1851, also in 1853, 1856, 1857 and from 1861 to 1865. Also served several years as Justice of the Peace. Owned a large farm and for several years was president of the Branch County Farmer's Mutual Fire Insurance Co.
