Biographical Sketch:
He came to Port Huron, Michigan, in 1839, engaged in lumbering and mercantile business, and built several stores. He was first a Whig, then a Republican. He was gifted in music, and for many years was leader of the choir in the Congregational church, of which he was a member. He served as justice of the peace; chairman of the board of supervisors; postmaster under Lincoln; and village president of Port Huron, Michigan, 1850.
