Biographical Sketch:
Moved to Detroit in 1847; apprenticed to a foundry, 1848. Worked in the foundry field until 1859. Studied law and admitted to the bar, 1860. Collector for the 4th ward, elected school inspector (1862), alderman (1863, 1865, 1876), county clerk (1864 and 1866), probate judge (1868) and member of the board of eduction (1871). He resumed pracicing law in 1881.
