Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jessie and Drucilla Fast. Grew up on a farm. Orphaned at 12. Enlisted as a pvt. in Co. B, 100th Reg. Indiana Volunteers, 1862; promoted to Capt. & made Assistant Adjutant General with rank of Capt. Moved to Mendon after the war & operated a hardware store until 1866. Admitted to the bar 1867. Practiced in Mendon, MI. He was a Circuit Court Commissioner, prosecuting attorney & US Commissioner.
