She was Assistant Executive Director of Council Programs and Manager of Membership and Marketing, Michigan Metro Girl Scout Council (16 years); worked as a volunteer in Detroit Public Schools; served as President of LSCO at Southwestern High School; member, design team for the Academy of the Americas and Medicine Bear Academy; chairperson, Hispanic Heritage Month Committee; served on the New Detroit Education Committee; chairperson, Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation; member Most Holy Trinity Church; member, Cluster 5 Detroit Community Reinvestment Strategies; member, Wayne County Youth Assistance Board; established a mentor program for youth in Southwest Detroit; established scholarship programs for women; managed political campaigns for elected judges, school board members, and state candidates; worked with the United Farm Workers; active in grassroots organizing.
