Began her career with the Wayne County Road Commission in 1967 as an entry-level stenographer. Advanced to position of Director of Human Relations. Appointed to the Detroit Bd of Education, 1991, serving as its vice president & president from 1996-98. Served on the National Education Commission for over 6 years and was Michigan State Director of the National Foundation for Women Legislators. Member of many organizations. Life Member of the NAACP. Member Trade Union Leadership Council, 14th Congressional District Precinct Delegate, United Way, Detroit Goodfellows Drive (Co-Chair), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
