His early education was acquired in Belfast, Ireland, and after coming to the United States he attended schools and colleges in Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit.
Biographical Sketch:
He engaged for ten years as illuminating engineer with the Detroit Gas & Electric Fixture Co. In 1914 he organized the Wardell Light & Fixture Co., and operated this company successfully until 1921, when it was sold. He developed the Wardell system of diffused lighting which is now used extensively throughout the country.

Elected to the legislature in 1922 and again in 1926, November 6, 1928, by a plurality of 94,830, and re-elected in 1930,
