Biographical Sketch:
Son of George and Favilla (Eldredge) Edwards. Began teaching in the district school at age 16 and worked on a farm during vacations. After college graduation went to the copper country to teach in Allouez, Phoenix and Ripley, MI. In 1889, he gave up teaching for bookkeeping and was chief clerk for the Atlantic Mining Co. for 22 years. Served as township clerk, treasurer, justice of the peace, Houghton County supervisor (20 years), chairman of the board (11 years), and county commissioner of schools. Member of the Masons.
