Son of Chester Ferry. He was raised on a farm.He settled in Courtland, MI, farming there from 1849-65. He, then, moved to Cannon until 1879. After 1879, he was engaged in milling in Rockford. He served 3 years as supervisor of Courtland and 5 years of Cannon.
