Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jacob and Anna (Turnky) Dombrowski. He moved with his family to a farm in Milan, MI in 1904. His family moved back to Detroit in 1912. In May, 1918, he enlisted in WWI at the age of 16. Upon his discharge in April 1919, he became a professional boxer and then worked as the manager of the Detroit Piggly Wiggly. He started his own retail produce business before going to work for the Ford Motor Company. Member of American Legion.
Notable Facts:
In 1943, he repudiated grand jury testimony about being bribed, pleaded guilty to perjury, and was sentenced to prison; charged on January 22, 1944 (along with 19 other current and former state legislators) with accepting bribes; tried, convicted, and sentenced to 3-5 years in prison.
His last residence was in Detroit.
