Biographical Sketch:
He received a thorough English educa-
tion and acquired some knowledge of Latin. He worked on the farm summers until 18, when he commenced the study of medicine. He commenced the practice of medicine immediately after graduation at Grass Lake. In the fall of 1862 he was commissioned assistant surgeon of the 26th Regiment Michigan Volunteers, and in April, 1863, was promoted to be Surgeon of the same regiment, in which
capacity he served until the close of the war. Dr. Raymond was a member of the School Board for over 12 years, and served as President of the village.
