Biographical Sketch:
Of Irish parentage. Left school at the age of twelve years and began earning his own living working on a farm. At the age of seventeen he went on the railroad as locomotive fireman, coming three years later to the Michigan Soo where he was employed as engineer on the Sabin Lock, hauling out the first ten cars of rock. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and for seven years held the office representing the trainmen of legislative matters. He was also local chairman, representing the trainmenon the Soo railroad east of Minneapolis.

Notable Facts:
Republican and was elected to the legislature in 1922, without opposition, and re-elected November 4, 1924, without opposition.
