Biographical Sketch:
Son of John & Annie (Barrett) Jolly. Of English & Cornish descent. Worked in the mines for 3 yrs before studying law at 1st Valparaiso U. then at Detroit College of Law. Practiced law at South Range 1915-23. Asst. Prosecuting Attor. Houghton Co. 1917-21. 1923, became an assistant in the GM legal dept; became the general attor., 6/1937

Notable Facts:
His wife, Ester, was the 1st woman elected mayor in Michigan (mayor of the village of South Range, 1918). Died Oct 1951. Republican and was elected to the legislature November 7, 1922, without opposition.
