Mich. Recorder's court judge in Michigan, 1929-35; appointed 1929; circuit judge in Michigan 3rd Circuit, 1936-39
Son of Robert F. and Lois (Winslow) Callender, both of whom were from New England. Taught school three years before studing law and began practice at Toledo in 1898, removing to Detroit, Michigan, in 1899, where he has practiced continuously since, having offices at 1706-10 Dime Bank Building. Was member of the charter commission which drafted the charter of the city of Detroit in 1917. Member of Beta Theta Pi College Fraternity, Detroit bar Association, Detroit Lawyers' Club, Michigan Bar Association, American Bar Association, Detroit Board of Commerce, Detroit Athletic Club, Detroit Boat Club, Detroit Golf Club, Detroit Yacht Club, Ingleside Club, Faculty Club of Ohio State University and president of the Detroit Exchange Club.
