Biographical Sketch:
Son of Joseph Haskins. His ancestors were Quakers and Huguenots who had fled persecution in France and settled in Dutchess Co., NY. Haran moved to Oakland Co., MI in 1832 as a teacher and purchased a farm in West Bloomfield township in 1834. He served as township clerk for 8 years between 1836 and 1851. He was a captain in the 'Toledo War' and a deacon in his church.

He died in November 1858.
