Biographical Sketch:
Son of Timothy and Olive Marsh (Lougee) Barnard. Family lived in Oldtown, ME 1830-53. After marrying, settled in Saginaw, MI & engaged in the lumber business & salt manufacture. Very influential in the development of Saginaw. In 1872 the firm of Barnard & Binder built the iron-front block, corner of Hamilton and Franklin streets, Saginaw City. As assessor of the City of Saginaw, he was a member of the board of supervisors for 3 years. He was one of the directors of the Jackson, Lansing & Saginaw Railroad. Although not a member of the Episcopal church, he was active in church development for St. John's Episcopal Church in Saginaw.
