Has always lived on a farm and has followed the business of an auctioneer. Served as director of the Hillsdale County Co-Operative Association and the Hillsdale County Agricultural Society, serving as its treasurer since 1928.

Notable Facts:
Served as justice of the peace for 16 years. Republican and was elected to the legislature November 6, 1934, 1936, and re-elected November 8, 1938. According to House Resolution No. 25, 1964 House Journal, p. 261, he died at the Hillsdale County Health Center on 2/10/1964.
