Son of Adam & Mary A. (Morrison) Hance. Of German & Welsh descent. Came to Isabella Co., MI, 1865. Taught school 1869-74. Lived in Mt. Pleasant. Appointed deputy co. clerk & register of deeds, 1875; elected co. clerk, 1877. Engaged in several businesses including lumbering, brick making & farming. He was post master in Mount Pleasant in 1910 and living in Portland, OR in 1920.
