Biographical Sketch:
Of Welsh parentage; son of Joseph and Margaret (Hubbel). He came to Michigan with his parents in 1887. The first 19 years of his life were spent on a farm. In 1918, he was a cashier in a bank. He then spent one year as a sailor on the Great Lakes and then taught school for 6 years in the district schools and 6 years as Superintendent at Kinde and Port Hope. He was elected a member of the Board of Examiners of Huron County in 1908 and re-elected in 1910. He also served 2 terms as vice president of the Huron County Teachers' Association.
