Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Catherine (Sengaback, Senglobd or Singlaul [spelling varies in records]) Schmidt. His family emigrated from Germany to Canada before coming to Michigan around 1863. He was elected supervisor, 1902-08; chairman of the board 1906. He served as treasurer of the school board for 19 years and secretary of the Richmond Grange for several years. He specialized in raising shorthorn cattle and had an interest in real estate.

Notable Facts:
Had interest in real estate and specialized in short horn cattle. Member of the Grange. Michigan Biographies give birth year as 1865; death certificate says 1864.
