Biographical Sketch:
Of German and French descent. Worked for the Hastings Banner and in 1900 went abroad as a newspaper correspondent, traveling 3,000 miles on a bicycle through European countires. He worked on the editorial board of the Harvard Illustrated Magazine while in college. Became a member of the New York Herald's editorial staff, but due to poor health later resigned and returned to Hastings. He traveled in the Southwest, Mexico and Canadian Northwest during his time in New York. He has written several works on dramatic and historical subjects and several monographs on Michigan history.

Notable Facts:
According to House Resolution No. 8, 1948 House Journal, p. 130, he died 11/20/1947 in Kalamazoo.
