Biographical Sketch:
Son of Edmund C. and Elizabeth (Mitchner) Stroud. Early in the civil war, he enlisted in the 14th Ohio volunteer infantry, but was discharged for disability. He was in the quartermaster's department of the army of the Cumberland 9 months, later enlisting in the 188th Ohio volunteer infantry, and remained until the close of the war. He moved to Horton Bay, MI, in 1876 and engaged in the lumber business. He was a member of the Masons, the Maccabees, the Knights of Pythias, the Grange, and was grand master of the I. O. O. F. [Odd Fellows], 1900-1. He served as supervisor 10 years, sheriff 2 years, and judge of probate of Charlevoix County for 8 years.
Notable Facts:
Died of apoplexy and heart failure. Manual says he was born in Parma; Find-a-Grave says Berea, OH
