Biographical Sketch:
Son of Adonijah and Harriet S. (Clark) Emmons. He came to Detroit in 1836 and acted as private secretary to Gov. Stevens T. Mason. Admitted to the bar in 1840. Attorney with father and brother Halmer H. Emmons, under the name, A. Emmons & Sons, in Detroit, MI. He was prosecuting attorney for Wayne County 1855-57 and served on the school board, 1853-54. He moved to the South after serving as a captain in Co G, 1st Mich Cavalry during the Civil War and continued to practice law. He served as Attorney General of Florida for 3 years.
