Son of Jacob and Fannie (Goodrich) Jackson. Moved to Wisconsin from New York, 1845. Took over family farm at age 16, attending high school during the winter. Served as U.S. Consul to Antigua 1878-1890. Settled in Ovid in 1890; elected "President of Ovid," 1895; secretary/treasurer Clinton Co. Fruit Co., while managing his farm. Traveled in Florida and Venezuela before appointment to Consul.
