Son of William C. and Mary Emeline (Upton) Moore. He began life a merchant in the state of New York , which occupation he followed for a number of years : sold out and came to Battle Creek, MI, where he made a specialty of journalism, becoming one of the publishers of the Battle Creek Daily Journal; was a member of the Inland Daily Press Association, and the Michigan Republican Press Association, also correspondent to the journal published in the interest of newspaper men. In 1896, He was elected alderman and served as mayor of Battle Creek and chairman of the Calhoun County Board of Supervisors. In 1920 he was living in Pasadena, CA
