Biographical Sketch:
Son of William Pierce KingElected to the Common Council of Albany, NY, 1840. Began studying law, 1843. Emigrated to Michigan, 1856; went to Minnesota for his health; returned to Michigan during the Civil War helping to raise the 12th Michigan Regiment. Held a staff appointment with General McClellan & others. Acheived the rank of Colonel. Appointed Postmaster Feb. 1864. Active in the development of railroads.
