Biographical Sketch:
3rd son of John & Roxana (Worden) Root, but was a feeble child. Moved to Michigan Centre, MI, 1838 then to Jackson, 1841. Involved in rail development in the Jackson area. A Henry Clay Whig then a Free Soiler, 1848, then a Republican, 1854. He was engaged in the mercantile trade before dealing in real estate. Involved in the development of railroads in Michigan.
