Biographical Sketch:
Son of John and Ann (Sutherland Wood) Curry. At 16, he apprenticed as a blacksmith in Potsdam, NY for 3 years before clerking in Trenton,ON for a lumber company, until 1861. He came to Upper Michigan and after a year spent in the copper country, he went to Marquette and entered the employ of the Sault Ste. Marie Canal Company. After a year or more in this service he engaged in mineral exploration, mining and contracting and identified with the mining interests of the Upper Peninsula since then. Removed to Ironwood, in Gogebic county. He was for many years president of the Metropolitan Iron & Land Company.
