Biographical Sketch:
Son of Joseph & Susan (Sloat or Schlott) Green. Taught public school before enlisting for 3 months in Co. A, 10th Penn. Vol. Inf., 4/19/1861. Re-enlisted in Co. E, 107th Penn. Vol. Inf. 8/30/1862, wounded in the Battle of Bull Run. Rejoined his regiment, 1/21/1863. Commissioned Capt., Co. H, 107th Penn. Inf. Taken prisoner, 5/1864.; released 2/24/1865. Made brevet Major. Mustered out 7/13/1865. Entered University of Michigan law school, 1866. Moved to Charlevoix, MI, May, 1868. Held several local offices. Member of the G.A.R.; the Military Order of the Loyal legion of the US; Masons; Knights Templar.
