Son of John & Nancy (Hubbard) Howard. Moved to Port Huron at age 5. Started his working career in lumber and took over his father's business in 1877. President of the Northern Transit Co., Port Sarnia; one of the organizers of the Port Huron Tmes; President of the First Nationa Bank of Port Huron and officer of several other companies. Held several local offices.Mayor of Port Huron, 1882. Elected regent for U. of Michigan, 1891, but died before his term ended.
