Biographical Sketch:
He was the son of Aaron V. lay and Sarah Bushnell. Moved to NY with his parents in May, 1812. In May 1832 scouted the Michigan landscape on foot then returned to NY. In 1833 purchased property in MI an began a nursery near Ypsilanti. He was president of the Eastern Michigan Agricultural Society, and at one time he was vice president of the Michigan Pioneer Society. Also served several terms as Supervisor of Ypsilanti Township. Died at 82.

Notable Facts:
Built what may have been the first greenhouse in MI in 1834.
