Biographical Sketch:
Bingham, Early History of Mchigan with biograpies (1888) lists him as Livingston. Born in Canada, he removed to Detroit in 1849. In 1861 he became connected with the shipping interest, and from year to year increased his investments in that direction until he was the owner of a number of steam vessels. He was also largely interested in the lumber business, He was president of Detroit street railroads. He was appointed Collector of Customs at Detroit by President Arthur, which he held for several years. He also published the Detroit Journal.
