Biographical Sketch:
Son of Jeremiah & Laura (Corbit) Ludington. Moved to Cleveland twp, OH, 1831. Farmed in Ohio until 1850 when he moved to Sand Beach, Huron County, MI. There, he manufactured shingles & operated a general store. Built & operated a sawmill at Center Harbor, 1857-64. Moved to Verona Mills & statrted another sawmill, 1864. Lost 3 mills to fire between 1864-71. Farmed for a time after the loss of the mills. Operated a store from 1875-79. Built & operated a hotel that was destroyed by fire in 1881. He served as Verona Mills postmaster for 7 years; as township treasurer, county surveyor and local State Swamp Land Road Commissioner. He was president of the Huron County Agricultural Society; director of the Mutual Insurance Co. of Huron and Tuscola Counties; president of the Sanilac C0-operative and Mutual Benefit Association. Member of the Masons
